about women in the halls

Women in the Halls, a special project of Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Georgia, seeks to bring more women to the state Capitol during the annual legislative session.  Often, lawmakers overlook our concerns, and the resulting public policies can be disastrous for the women of Georgia.  The presence of Women in the Halls will remind lawmakers that they are accountable to the women of Georgia for the decisions that they make.

What do Women in the Halls do?

Every Wednesday during the legislative session (January through March), we will join a lobby training hosted by the American Civil Liberties Union and other progressive groups.  You will be briefed on pertinent legislation and how to lobby your elected officials.  Then, we’ll arm you with talking points, fact sheets, and everything you need to articulate your views to members of the General Assembly.  Together, we’ll fill the halls and fight for responsible legislation for women!

For more information, contact Nikema Williams at Nikema.Williams@ppfa.org or (404) 688-9305, ext. 310.

The Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Georgia is the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood of Georgia and engages electoral activities including voter education and mobilization.  We believe elected officials should support policies and programs that help women and their families make responsible choices about the prevention of unintended pregnancies and plan for healthy families.  The Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Georgia works to educate and mobilize the public and elect lawmakers who support these policies.
